Chim Hoo Fan + Michael Wong Double Birthday Fundraiser for New Sight

Dear Friends and Family,

During the month of July 2019, we are using the occasion of both our birthdays to raise funds for the charity New Sight Eye Care. We would love to introduce New Sight Eye Care to you, and your generous support would be the best birthday gift to us both!

The Republic of Congo has a population of over 5 million, but it did not have resources for eye surgery, and many suffered from blindness and visual impairment needlessly. Seeing the need, Joyce Samoutou-Wong and Henri Samoutou started the charity New Sight Eye Care in 2012, to provide accessible comprehensive eye care to help many families in Congo. For the past 7 years, 30,000 people in the Republic of Congo have received treatment. Looking forward, New Sight is training local health workers and educating communities on eye care, and building a comprehensive eye hospital in the town of Ouesso to reach more people in need.

It is not because our daughter Joyce and her husband Henri are the co-founders of New Sight that we ask for your support, but because of the cause New Sight is upholding. The cause New Sight upholds is “Restoring Sight, Changing Lives”, which is healing the blind to see again with their eyes and hearts. It is one among many missions worthy of your financial support, and surely you will support. The past 7 years have yielded such touching results because of support of generous people from Hong Kong, the UK and around the world, who donated funds, supplies, and professional services, so that New Sight could continue to serve this neglected land and its people. So, we appeal to you to support New Sight Congo to make one more noble dream come true and have a long-lasting impact.

Will you consider contributing to our campaign? Your thoughtful contribution will go far towards achieving New Sight’s goals for 2019. Please refer to information on New Sight Eye Care and its Ouesso Eye Hospital Project to see where exactly your funds will go to. If you prefer to give at another level, any donation will help!

We've raised GBP£100.00 so far for this campaign!

To support our campaign, please donate below. VISA, MasterCard, and American Express is accepted, and will be processed securely by New Sight Eye Care, and through payment processor Stripe. Tax deductible receipts will be issued valid for Hong Kong, where New Sight is registered as a charitable organisation.

Thank you in advance for your kind donations, we couldn’t do this without generous family and friends like you!

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows New Sight to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to New Sight we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like New Sight Eye Care to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that New Sight Eye Care will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When New Sight receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
