This summer I’ve been given the opportunity to travel on a mission trip to the New Sight Hospital, located in the Republic of Congo and spend a couple weeks volunteering and contributing to their mission.
Joyce and Henri Samoutou and their 3 children are medical missionaries and close friends of my family. This incredible family have dedicated themselves to serving Congo by offering sight-saving treatment and surgery that transforms lives and communities. They have just opened a hospital in Ouesso last year, and are expanding into more medical services, such as dental services, and training for local doctors and nurses. Remote and neglected places in the world such as the Republic of Congo lack accessible eye care and health education, thus New Sight’s presence in the community is life-changing.
I am currently a student studying Health Science and Social Care at college with the aspirations to pursue studies in either Nursing or Psychology in the near future. An opportunity to travel to Congo and contribute to New Sight’s mission would be an incredibly valuable experience, where I will have the chance to see firsthand the challenges that people face in accessing healthcare and support in low-income communities. Most importantly, the time I spend there will allow me to contribute to their cause, whether that is through aiding the local communities with community development and supporting schools in the area or helping out with practical tasks where possible.
All funds raised will go towards travel and accommodation costs, with any additional funds going directly to New Sight to support their work.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you feel led to support, any donation amount will make a big difference. I look forward to this exciting new journey and the time I will be spending with New Sight.
Thank you in advance for your kind donations!
Ania
